Pioneer makes every effort to be an environmentally conscious company. In addition to providing
the most natural, earth-friendly work environment possible, we expect our employees to join us
in taking steps to protect and honor our environment.

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle:
• Used paper is recycled. Each employee has their own recycling box for this purpose. Paper that still has
one blank side is re-used for in-house forms or notepads.

• Boxes & envelopes are reused whenever possible. Unusable boxes are cut up and used as stiffeners
for mailings.

• We purchase post-consumer waste recycled toilet paper and supply each employee with his/her own cotton hand towels and napkins to reduce the use of paper products.

• To further reduce waste, our kitchen is stocked with plenty of tableware for employee use, reducing the need for disposable plates, cups, etc.

• Glass, metal, plastic and paper food containers are all recycled.

Water/Energy Conservation:
• To cut down on excessive water use from individual dish-washing, an energy-conserving dishwasher is run
once a day.

• Heat, lights and computers are turned down or off at night and on weekends.

• Window and skylight-filled office creates a naturally bright and warm space, requiring fewer lights and less
demand for heat.

• Space heaters and fans are available to all employees if needed to offset conservative overall cooling/heating
in building.

The Air We Breathe:
• Our open, wood-beamed office space is full of green plants and natural building materials.

• Windows and doors are opened as often as possible to allow fresh air circulation in the building.

• When natural fibers are unavailable, new textiles are off-gassed. We make every attempt to reduce employee exposure to chemicals, solvents, etc. that may cause irritation or harm.

Our Natural Surroundings:
• We grow flowers (and occasionally vegetables) to provide beautiful scenery for employees, and to attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife.

• Food waste and teabags are composted daily.

• Biodegradable dish and hand soaps are used in the kitchen and bathrooms.

• Our office building and the expansive surrounding yards are situated on a quiet road, and edged by wooded areas and a beautiful stream. Picnic tables and lawn chairs are provided for relaxed outdoor meals, breaks and meetings.
